What is Home Care?
Home care is a general term used to describe medical care, social and supportive services, as well as equipment and supplies provided to individuals and families in their home and in their community. The purpose of home care is to restore or to maintain a patient at their highest possible level of health, function and comfort. Now, due to modern technology, many medical services previously available only in hospitals or extended care facilities are safely and effectively administered at home. Medical services are provided under physician orders. |

Home care is for all ages and needs, short duration or long, and may be intermittent or continuous. The patient is encouraged to remain independent and an active partner in their treatment and rehabilitation. Home care also supports the family by providing help, reassurance and support as they cope with the challenging and rewarding tasks of caring for a loved one at home. |
